The year 2007 did not disappoint Bollywood audiences. One again, dream merchants came out with a slew of entertainers – action films like Risk, children’s’ cinema like Taare Zameen, hard hitting realistic flicks, Traffic signal, Gothic horror, laugh riots, thrillers, and some films even on sports.
And 2007 filled producers’ offers and continued the new innovations that came about in 2006.
2006 was the multiplex year and 2007 ‘s first half been commercially disappointing. But the second half commensurate that from the revenue point of view.
There were many flops in 2007, but there were as many hits too. So the overall picture is satisfying.
The cinema industrialists say 2007 has been a good year for this market and the trend shall continue in 2008.
The analysts’ further say with more corporatism entering in, this sector, film making, has tremendous opportunities in the year 2008. Because of corporatist’s entry the production and star costs have increased. Many small producers cannot afford this. It is a double-edged sword.
With the hardware (DVD) and the software market expanding, the home video sector is in full blossom now. The 2008 film making has a bright future.
The overall summary is like this, 2007 was fabulous for the domestic box office, and it should bring more joy to tinsel town.
